Caring For Your Horse

Oak Meadow Farm offers some of the best care and facilities in central Connecticut for the absolute best value. Our horses are fed premium hay virtually free choice and Nutrena grains formulated to their dietary specifications 2-3 times per day depending on the individual horse’s needs. Stalls are cleaned twice daily and buckets are scrubbed on a daily basis. The on-site staff is here to make sure that your horse is comfortable and happy 24/7. The barn is open to boarding customers 7 days per week and on holidays from 8-8.

              We offer two indoor and two outdoor arenas, and two full courses of jumps (location depending on the season). We are one of the only barns in the area with two full size indoor arenas, both of which are connected to the barn aisles. No need to step outside in the winter months to access either one of our indoor rings. Our indoor arenas contain dust controlled footing and our outdoor rings have irrigation systems to keep the dust down. We also have multiple grass areas which are utilized for riding and preparing for horse shows taking place on grass footing.

Each horse is guaranteed a minimum turnout shift of 4 hours in one of our many paddocks, weather permitting. Depending on the number of horses on the property at the time, there may be a rotating schedule of longer turnout shifts. We also have two “rehabilitation” paddocks for those horses on stall rest. The paddocks are small and prevent the horses from injuring themselves, but allow them to get outside to calm their minds. We have had great success rehabbing horses while utilizing these paddocks. During winter months blankets are changed as necessary and all booting and fly gear changes are included in board.

Our boarders have access to heated tack rooms with saddle racks and shelves to store their equipment. All of our tack rooms remain cool in the summer and are cleaned on a regular basis.

For Your Comfort  

Our lovely lounge and kitchenette are used for barn functions and just relaxing while at the barn. It has mirror-glass windows which allow customers to view the 60’x130’ indoor arena from the comfort of the seats and heat.
