2010 Oak Meadow News From the Road

Summer 2010

Oak Meadow Farm riders and staff have had an extremely fun and successful summer. After Saugerties they headed up to the gorgeous show grounds at Lake Placid for a fun filled week of showing. The competition was a great success and the group came back with only one idea in mind… Definitely two weeks in Lake Placid next year! The neat part about this show is that they pin to 12 in every class, so all of our riders came back with ribbon colors that they didn’t yet have in their collection! All of our horses were extremely well behaved and everyone had a great time at the show. Morgan Taniwha showed Nancy Hamilton’s Starkist, Anastasia Romeo showed her ponies Party Time and Dreams Come True, as well as her horse Grateful, Mark showed OMF’s Moncheri, and Patrick showed his two horses Askan and Laveno. Congratulations to all of our riders.

Many of our riders spent the rest of the summer showing on the local circuits to get year-end ribbons and qualify for the state finals and other local finals competitions. Kaitlyn Boggio showed Mia Cuda’s pony Dixieland in the Children’s Hunter Pony division along with Anastasia and her two ponies. The three ponies ended up qualified for the CHJA Medal Finals in August. The two girls also qualified for the CHJA pony medal, so they went to the Fairfield County Hunt Club on August 19th to show for the weekend. All of the ponies and both girls had some great trips in the classes. Unfortunately no scores made the cutoff to return for the second round, but we were very pleased with the rounds!

The very next weekend we had riders qualified for the CHSA finals at the Westbrook Hunt Club. Cindy Dodd took Dodd’s Killian’s Red for the Quarter Horse Hunter U/S, Dawn Luke rode her horse Southern Comfort in the Hunter Pleasure, and Karen Trescott rode Formal Affair in the Beginner 11 & Over Pleasure and Personal Best in the Beginner 11 & Over Equitation. Our riders received ribbons in every class! Dawn was 5th in a very competitive Hunter Pleasure, Karen was 3rd in Equitation, Cindy was Reserve Champion in the Quarter Horse class and Karen was CHAMPION in the Pleasure with “Oscar.” Congratulations to all of our riders, especially Karen, who was showing at her first ever final!

Coming up in the near future, Anastasia is taking her ponies to HITS Saugerties to prepare and show in the Marshall and Sterling Children’s Hunter Pony Finals and OMF has several riders qualified for the Folly Classic. We are waiting on the final lists, but current qualifiers are Anastasia Romeo with both ponies, Kaitlyn Boggio with Dixieland, Morgan Taniwha with Unquestionable, and others to hopefully follow!
